I created this page to get support for my trip through Africa from my friends, mates and family.
My name is Jan Dufek, but my friends call me "Dufíno". I am preparing for a trip around the whole of Africa, where I will pass a total of 25 countries in 6 months, an estimated 42,000 km.

Basic INFO: from January to June 2025 with total of 42,000 km in way: Spain - Morocco - Mauritania - Mali - Burkina Faso - Benin - Nigeria - Cameroon - Congo - Democratic Republic of Congo - Angola - Namibia - South Africa - Lesotho - Zimbabwe - Zambia - Tanzania - Kenya - Ethiopia - Oman - Emirates – Iran (or Saudi – Iraq) - Turkey and Prague.
Since Sudan remains closed for foreigners, we have to take a ferry from Kenya to Oman (Arabian Peninsula) and return to Prague from there.
Why such a long journey?
Because it's been my dream for a long time and I'm celebrating my 50th this year. I decided a long time ago to give it as a birthday present with the motto:
"WHILE it GOES"
What will I ride?
On my tried-and-tested "Gertrude" - The BMW F800GS motorcycle from 2009. It has already driven approx. 120,000 km with me and I still trust it. I think I know her over the years and can fix a lot. I have now serviced the motorcycle and given it a new look.
There are two of us.
Originally the idea was the solo ride, now there are two of us, which I am very happy about. It's better in twos, isn't it? Rumas and I were in Mauritania "Following the footsteps of Dakar, including at the Fabrizio Meoni monument (Paris - Dakar racer)".

Do I already have any experience?
I have already completed many trips on a motorcycle, such as the mentioned trip to Mongolia in 2011. 25,000 km, solo through all the places (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan ... and others).

Are you afraid?
No, I am neither the first nor the last to drive in this direction. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to cross Sudan due to the military issue, but I hope that will change before the start of the trip, or options to end in Ethiopia or from Kenya by boat to Oman and through the Arabian Peninsula and Turkey home.
Why Africa?
She enchanted me. I have visited it many times on my motorbike, but mostly North Sahara areas.
I want to get to know it even more, especially the true "black", equatorial one.
When do I leave?
In December 2024, it comes out after Christmas. I would like to take my second-born son to school for the first time from September 2024. First of all, I thank my partner for her support, I couldn't have gone without her, because she will be taking care of my 2 sons here.
